Challenger Exhaust Tips and Quad Tip Upgrades

Exhaust tip upgrades are a quick visual win. Here's what fits the Challenger and what to expect from different styles.

Factory Exhaust Tip Sizing

The quad tip setup on Scat Pack and above is one of the most distinctive Challenger design elements. V6 and R/T owners often upgrade to quad tips for the visual upgrade.

Upgrading V6/R/T to Quad Tips

The V6 and R/T run a single exhaust that terminates in two tips. To get quad tips, you need either:

  1. Dual rear exit exhaust system: Full cat-back that creates two separate exhaust outlets. Actual functional dual exhaust.
  2. Exhaust tip kit: Cosmetic quad tip covers that clamp over the existing dual tips. Much cheaper but purely visual.

The Mopar genuine quad tip kit for R/T allows factory-looking quad tip appearance without exhaust system modification.

Aftermarket Tip Styles

Polished stainless: The most popular. Catches light, matches chrome trim.

Matte black: Popular on Pitch Black cars or for a stealthy look. Pairs well with blackout trim packages.

Carbon fiber tips: Lightweight, distinctive. Can look out of place on non-carbon-trimmed cars.

Rolled edge vs slash cut: Rolled edge is the factory look. Slash cut (angled tips) is more aggressive visually.

Tip Diameter and Fitment

Aftermarket tips clamp over or weld onto the existing pipe end. Confirm the inlet diameter of the tip matches the outlet pipe diameter:

  • Most V6/R/T stock pipes: 2.25–2.5" outlet
  • Aftermarket cat-backs: typically 3" outlet

Clamp-on tips come in multiple inlet sizes. Measure before ordering.

Sound Impact

Exhaust tips don't meaningfully change sound — the muffler and pipes determine the tone. A wider tip opening has negligible acoustic effect. Sound claims from tip manufacturers are largely marketing.
