The 17-Character VIN
Every Challenger has a unique 17-character Vehicle Identification Number stamped on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield) and on the door jamb label.

- 2 = Canada (Brampton Assembly Plant)
- 1 = United States
Position 2 — Manufacturer
- C = Chrysler / Stellantis
Position 3 — Vehicle Type
- 3 = Passenger car
Position 4 — Safety Systems
- H = Airbags all positions, seat belts
Positions 5–7 — Model/Line/Series
- LA7 = Challenger SE (V6)
- LA8 = Challenger SXT (V6 Plus)
- LAM = Challenger R/T
- LAR = Challenger R/T (Classic)
- LAS = Challenger SRT 392 (Scat Pack)
- LAX = Challenger SRT Hellcat
- LAV = Challenger SRT Redeye
- LAT = Challenger SRT Super Stock
Position 8 — Engine
- G = 3.6L Pentastar V6
- T = 5.7L HEMI V8
